The supreme temporal body of the Sikhs, the Akal Takht Sahib has issued two hukamnammas against the dera. The first Hukamnamma (Proclamation of the Akal Takht) was issued on 17 May 2008 and it calls for the religious, social and political boycott of Dera Sacha Sauda and its followers. The second proclamation issued on 20 May 2007 calls for a closure of all centres of the Dera.
