Has terror been used as an excuse by some European governments for draconian new laws?
According to Amnesty International, governments across Europe continue to use the so-called “war on terror” to undermine human rights in the name of security. Spain, for example, has doubled the time that some terror suspects can be held incommunicado. Amnesty said that the lack of political will shown by the European Union to confront human rights violations within its own borders was increasingly disturbing.
