Has technology really brought us any further enlightenment on the meaning of life or made it worse?
To me, we have been enlightened by technology. For example, we can now determine which sets of neurons are responsible for which cognitive functions. And, we can now understand that all matter is composed of the identical building blocks of matter. That scientific understanding can enlighten us as to the source and the mechanisms for life and existence. And, we are slowly approaching the breakthrough which will define the mechanisms for consciousness. There is a physical process there that we will eventually understand completely. But, of course, what matters is how we choose to use that information which we continually uncover. Hopefully, the information will continue to enlighten us, rather than inadvertently destroying us.
