Has proper shaving become a lost art?

I shave with a cheap disposable razor and shaving cream (I refuse to pay exorbitant prices for those fancy triple-, quadruple-, and quintuple-blade razors or shave gel). But in truth, the only reason is because I haven’t found a place to buy a double-edged razor. I can find the blades pretty much anywhere, just not the razor itself. I know you can buy them online, but I’ve got a cache of cheapo disposable single-blade razors to go through anyway, and I wanted to buy it in-person so I could feel the weight and inspect the workmanship of the razor before buying. When carefully shopped, a good double-edged razor is a life-long investment you’ll never get rid of. My father-in-law still uses his from nearly 50 years ago! Once I find the razor I like, I’ll probably make the switch and buy myself a decent brush and shave soap mug. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time!
