The changes we have made are not in response to the actions of any of our competitors. We are responsibly responding to the economic recession and to changes in health care. Other health care organizations have also taken similar measures in response to the recession because health care is not immune from an economic downturn. Additionally, the movement in Washington toward health care reform is causing health systems to prepare for an uncertain future. We have taken cost-saving measures in areas that are not core services.
