Has Obamas campaign been fatally wounded by the Russian invasion of Georgia?
I don’t believe so. Actually, this occurrence can and probably will work to Mr. Obama’s favor once the whole scenario is played out. Consider two things – first, McCain’s top foreign policy advisor is working or moonlighting as a lobbyist for the Georgian government. He is supposed to be able to provide direct access and communication to the republican presidential candidate and his fee for this, already paid in full, was $800,0000 (anyone care to guess how much made it into McCain’s campaign chest?). However, the song and dance being given to the Georgian government is not only premature but hype. McCain is not a senior senator on any committees that can influence what aide is given to Georgia, he doesn’t have a privately good relationship with our current president and he has not won the election. As a result there is really little he can do to help. Georgia now realizes this and that they have been taken by the McCain campaign. Two, as a result of the realization that McCain most li
Libs are missing the vital point as always. Georgia may have antagonized Russia, but just how quickly can Russia (this is Russia we are speaking of) with its extremely poor infrastructure move that much armor and troops into Georgia. The peacekeepers did not have that much firepower with them. Russia was planning to act for sometime. Obama completely showed his lack of understanding and resolve by taking 3 tries to get the correct message out. Hell, he would have invited Vovka and Dimka to a luau and taken them body surfing rather than condemn the invasion.
