If you could point to specific policies or practices that lead to the unemployment in Michigan being higher than the national average, then I’m all ears. But unless you can demonstrate the connection, then what we have here is a mere statistical correlation, and that’s not proof by any standard. My suspicion is that, as a state particularly dependent on manufacturing, Michigan’s rising unemployment rate can be attributed more to the general decline in American manufacturing, and to the extremely poor management of the big American auto manufactures, than to a single officeholder, whether “Canadian” or not.
