It looks like Kai Milla submitted inauguration gown sketches (along with several other designers) but wasn’t chosen as the final designer. She also created a five-piece Inaugural 2009 Collection (inspired by Michelle Obama not for her). Milla was quoted as saying “If it doesn’t happen for the inaugural I’m sure that she and I will work in the future on some level.” So even though Obama hasn’t worn Milla’s designs yet, you may see Milla designing for Michelle Obama in the future.
