Has HandsOn considered seeking grants, sponsors, etc., rather than asking volunteers to pay?
Yes, we apply for grants and sponsorships on an ongoing basis. Most of HandOn’s funding comes from sources other than our volunteers. About 35% of our income comes from corporate customers and sponsors and 45% comes from foundation and government grants, 8% from fundraising events. Donations from individuals make up about 12% of our income. Only half of that, or 6% comes from active HandsOn volunteers.
