Has Greenpeace sent all Australian infant formulas for testing?
No. Greenpeace tested samples of the main lines of infant formula products from the leading brands in Australia: S-26, Karicare, Nestle Nan Pro, Heinz Nurture, Novolac and Pediasure. Nestle Nan Pro, Heinz Nurture, Novolac and Pediasure tested negative. Karicare tested positive for GM once and negative the second time. However, S-26 has now tested positive for GM DNA three times – twice with independent testing conducted by Greenpeace and once with independent testing conducted by Channel Seven. The test results obtained by Greenpeace also relate only to the specific samples of formula sent for testing, not all past and future batches of formula produced by the formula companies. The Australian Government is responsible for ensuring infant formula companies comply with industry regulatory standards. If you need to know if the specific formula you are using contains GM, we recommend you contact the manufacturer and inquire about its GM policy. The results of the testing requested by Gree
