Has FCDS ever considered offering a public speaking course?
The success of the Headmaster’s Internship class and the Green Campus Initiative has prompted the Upper School to consider more offerings with “real world” advantages. Proposed nine-week elective courses include: public speaking, environmental responsibility, the interview, non-fiction writing, and ethics. This year, the school also hosted Rick Amme, former WXII anchor, who spoke to juniors and seniors on interviewing and public speaking skills. Due to the success of this program, we are discussing continuing to offer such seminars. If you would like to discuss this issue further, Penny Marshall, our Assistant Director of the Upper School, would be an excellent person with whom to speak. She can be reached at 945-3151 ext. 327 or via e-mail at pennymarshall@fcds.org.
