Has David E. Stone ever been to Mars?
Return to top one year in LA is a one year art exhibition project by conceptual artist, David E. Stone. He is not from Los Angeles and in fact, moved here just to begin this project. Due to his status in Los Angeles of being a relative unknown, Stone conceived of this project as an introduction to his work for art lovers in southern California. Each month during 2004, Stone mounts a different show of his work and each exhibition employs a specific theme. Stone’s conceptual work is eclectic in nature employing a wide range of materials and no easily identifiable continuing imagery to associate with him. Therefore, when one sees several exhibitions, it becomes clear that his iconography is more of a mindset than specific visual images. This project was conceived while David E. Stone was attending Manifesta in Frankfurt, Germany in June, 2002.
