Has current research debunked the myth of “multiple intelligence?

Having used the mulitple intelligence theory in my lesson planning to address different styles of learning, I have not ever found any evidence that refuted this theory. One cannot look at multiple intelligences, pick one out and feel that any particular student is this exclusively. We all have these same intelligences in different quantities and knowing that, they all work together to help us learn. Some students learn BETTER by visual means, some learn BETTER by audio means, etc. So when you are teaching you need to address as many of these styles as you can. A concept can be demonstrated through a movie clip and an historical speech in the same lesson. Understanding the concept is what is most important here. It’s good that you are critical of the theory as this also helps you to learn. But if you were to teach only ONE way (lecture only for instance), then your visual students might get it, but not as well. It’s teaching for understanding that is your goal.
