This year, the staff has embarked upon the process of developing professional learning communities. Department meetings, staff meetings and professional development days have had altered formats in order to provide opportunities for staff to network/collaborate in order to enhance our students’ achievement. Such format and structure changes facilitate staff and cross-discipline discussion and focus on student learning and school improvement. The mandate of our Professional Development committee has been to provide opportunities for staff professional growth and, simultaneously, enhance student achievement. In planning professional development days, the committee endeavours to carefully align plans with our school growth plan. In addition, funds for staff release time, professional development, guest speakers and other staff support will be targeted to support this goal.
