Has anyone used a kieffer wien dl professional dressage saddle?
The Wien, all incarnations of it does have a deep seat, but very little knee roll. I do love it; it was the first good dressage saddle I bought for myself 30 years ago. I still have it, but it doesn’t fit any of the horses I have now. Yes, it is adjustable, but not infinitely. A master saddler must do it; it has a thermoplastic tree. One of the problems I came across with it is that you really only get to mold it twice, after that, the thermoplastic tends to twist, and you have to get a new tree put in. The adjustments are about $500, and the new tree was $800. While I really love this saddle, it is designed half a century ago when horses were slighter in build. They had smaller bone and their spinous processes were narrower. The channel between the panels is very narrow, and on today’s broader horses, they can pinch. My horses are just too broad (they still only use medium to medium wide trees mostly) not in size of the saddle, but the size of their bones. It does work really well for
