Has anyone taken procardia (nifedipine) to stop contractions in pre-term labor?
How often are you getting the contractions? You should go to the hospital if you have more than 6 in one hour for more than an hour. But call your doctor anytime you are not sure about things. Always err on the side of caution. How many weeks are you? Has your cervix changed if they have checked? Other than resting, keeping yourself hydrated may help. Even if you feel like you’re drinking a ton already, and I know it doesn’t make things easy with trips to the bathroom, but plenty of hydration lessens uterine irritability. Good luck to you, hang in there! **ETA: If the contractions last less than 45 seconds they are more likely to be BH, while “true” contractions are usually longer. But if you’ve been put on bedrest and are taking meds, etc., don’t worry so much about the length of each, use the “6 in an hour” rule to guide your actions. And at 30 weeks, even with twins, you are in a good place. Sure, the babies would need time in NICU, but survival rates are well above 95% by 30 weeks.
