Has anyone read Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult?
I love Jodi Picoult books – like you, i started with my sisters keeper when i heard about the film, and i’ve been obsessed ever since – im reading the tenth circle at the moment, and finished handle with care last thursday. Willow… I cried. A lot. But i think there was a kind of strange beauty about the fact that it wasn’t willow’s illness that caused her death, but something she had always wanted to do. It was really sad, and had me in tears (as most of Jodi’s books do at some point whilst im reading them), and i can see why you think that it was unnecessary, in fact i kind of agree to an extent (mainly out of a strong liking for the character, admittedly), but i think that the insight into willows mind, which we do not get until the final chapter, and the fact that shes kind of…happy when she dies, makes it a very powerful moment in the book. It also gives us an insight in to the minds of her family, in a way which their narration couldnt – by hesitating in cashing the cheque, an
