Has anyone on here climbed Mount Everest?
I have never climbed Everst and probably never will but due to the very high altitude you need a lot of specialist equipment (otherwise you’ll die, for want of better way of putting it). I would imagine a lot of money too. In other words, not something to take lightly. Find a good sherpa / sherpas as well (they’re local guides who know the area well). There was a very interesting programme on the BBC on Sunday 30th September I think, which was about a team of doctors and other medical specialists who went to Everest. Their purpose was to study the effect of such high altitudes on the human body. It was one of the extemely rare examples of quality TV (interesting and informative) these days. Their study – they took along many volunteers as well – will enable them to find out new methods of care for people in intensive care in hospital whose bodies are exposed to lower levels of oxygen.
