Has anyone heard classical music recorded with CNSTR, certified natural sound technique recording?
I studied acoustics and recording techniques as a student with one of the best in the business – Trygg Tryggvason. We explored ‘binaural’ recording (which is what CNSTR seems to be). I listed to the Novák track on the website you provided and I enjoyed it – mostly. The trouble with recording orchestras with just two mics is that microphones are not human ears. They never can be. In addition, when one is listening to an orchestral concert live, one has the VISUAL as well as the AURAL experience. Often one hears a solo instrument play partly because one can SEE that it’s playing. Take away that visual stimulus and one can miss things aurally. Another thing is that, however much of the hall’s acoustic the micophones might pick up, the acoustics in which one listens to the final product is very different and will corrupt the sound.
