Has anyone had any first hand experience with talent agency, BlackBox Management?
If you’re in Australia, SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM Please I beg you, go to www.theatre.asn.au, click on the FAQ link, and then read all of the stuff in it about agents. There is a big section there about Blackbox – it is general consensus that the place is a scam. In fact, they hated the site so much for the comments stating they were a scam, they threatened to sue and 90% of the info has had to be removed. For goodness sake, if you’re going to sign up with an agent, do a background check first! Check out local auditions at theatre.asn.au, or read up on Aussietheatre.com. If you’re keen, pay for a membership at QuietOnSet.com.au or Artshub.com.au; they list heaps of auditions every day around Australia. Another good site is screenhub.com.au. My best advice is to visit the first link, head to the FAQ section, and read about finding agents in Australia, how to find work, etc. It also has a lot of stuff about dodgy Aussie agents to avoid.
