Has anyone had any experience of hand rearing kittens?
Aaah. How sweet! You’re a lovely person. I’ve hand reared two kittens, but not at the same time. They usually let you know when they’re ready for tinned food. I had other cats, so the kitten simply went to the older cat’s dish, had a good old sniff then started to eat. If you are a meat or fish eater, I am sure your kittens will display interest in your food and thus let you know. It will probably take another 3 weeks But it also depends on the individual. The alpha kitten might start sooner; the other one will then follow his or her lead. If you intend to feed them kitten dry food, it will take longer because they need their teeth to crunch it up. It is usually best to start with tinned or moist food. But you can read the labels on all the available products and decide all that later.
