I too have experience with Fujitsu instead of the Canon. A client has used a fleet of the Fi-5120c as a small desktop model (25ppm), and the Fi-4340c at mid-volume scan stations (35-40ppm), for a conversion from paper records to electronic records. Both models were easy to set up and performed well with little downtime. Fujitsu sells consummable kits of user replaceable wear and cleaning components, not sure if Canon does the same. That Canon model though has some impressive specs, and a price tag to go with it I see. For those speeds, I would definitely use the SCSI interface opposed to USB. On our project, we used the USB on the smaller desktop scanners and SCSI at the dedicated scan stations. Obviously you’ve got a fair amount of scanning to do, so have spare parts and even spare scanner(s) around, even if lower cost, lower volume unit(s).
