Has anyone failed the one hour Glucose test then went on to pass the 3 hour one?!?

First, DO NOT eat anything before the test, the results will not be correct… Only 30% of women who fail the one hour will ALSO fail the 3 hour, so you have a 70% chance of passing the 3 hour… that is a good chance!!! I only failed the first by 3 points, they told me I would pass the 3 hour because it was so close, however I did not… I failed at 20 weeks…. It hasn’t been “fun” but there are many other worse things out there… I had to stick my fingers often, and for the last 5 weeks I have had to have insulin shots in the belly at bed time, but they don’t hurt, the needle is super thin! I watch what I eat, but have been lucky that I can really have almost anything within reason! i hope all goes well for you! More then likely you will pass! Oh bring something with you to eat after the test, like a banana or apple or something… there is a lot of sugar and I always felt a little quessy after it!!! Mommy to 5y.o., 3 y.o. twins and baby #4 tomorrow!

Just yesterday I went to have my 3 hour test. I passed with flying colors. I failed the one hour test, it was 193. I know high. But then I did the test yesterday. My blood was 84 before I drank the glucose drink then it skyrocketed to 174, then at the second finger prick it showed at 143 then the last one was 140. My midwife said I was normal and that I don’t have to worry. Yay!

Either way, dont be too worried. I failed both, but they test 4 times for the 3 hour and I only failed 2. That meant I wasn’t too bad and I could control it with diet so I didn’t need to take shots or pills. When the baby came out, then tested her blood and it was a little low … because she suddenly wasn’t getting sugar from me. But all they had to do was give her some sugar water a couple of times. She’s a beautiful healthy 2 month old now. I was so worried and it ended up being nothing at all! Good luck, hun!

Yes that happened to me. I failed the one hour and when I went back there were two of us taking the three hour. She failed the one hour too. We both turned out fine. That is why they do the three hour test, it is to make sure properly diagnose any problems.
