Has anyone ever shaved their dog at home?
I trim my Australian Shepherd x Great Pyrenees mix down in the warmer months, stated alright by the vet. Last year my father did it, this year I did it. Turned out great both times, slightly uneven but not noticeable – doesn’t matter though because my dog is happy. Next year, I’m going to have it done by this place called the “Barking Boutique”, they don’t charge very much for grooming and it’s done by professionals, I think it’s to raise money for their shelter or something. Obviously coming from poor mutt-breeding, she doesn’t really have any cooling insulation. She gets severely overheated in the as low as 60 degree weather, making our play time more limited when we’re outdoors. So we trim her fur rather short, and she seems so much happier and more playful. 🙂 IMO just leave the dogs’ fur as is, don’t touch it up because you may either knick or make it too short which might lead to skin irritation. Don’t worry about what people may think. I bet your dogs look just fine.
