Has anyone ever made it to the bottom of the deepest Ocean?

I may be slightly out on this, in terms of the names of the participants, but the bathysphere “Trieste” holds the record for the deepest ever dive. It reached the bottom of the Marianas Trench, way back in the 1960’s. It is a record that has yet to be broken. The men in the machine were, I think, Lindstrom and Picard. So deep was the dive that for bouyancy, and their only means of regaining the surface, was a large envelope, similar to a baloon, that was filled with gasoline because the pressure at those depths meant that there was no form of pressurised gas that would be able to overcome the water pressure, in order to inflate the envelope. The dive was facilitated by heavy ballast that pulled Trieste to the ocean floor. Once on the ocean floor, the ballast was released, and the gasoline, more bouyant than the surrounding water, brought Trieste back to the suface. In any event, it beats the depths dived during the exploration of Titanic. In itself, no mean feat!
