Has anyone ever died or gotten seriously ill from the pesticide residue in eating non-organic foods?
Acute poisoning from pesticides does not occur, produce is inspected and the growers have to keep accurate records of pesticide application to insure that residues are at acceptable levels. The real health concerns have focused on the effects of chronic ingestion of pesticides, there is currently no evidence to show that there are any negative health effects but as this is a very long term study any results will necessarily take a long time. The effects of genetic modification on health are not know, however, as the modifications don’t add anything to the plant/animal that wasn’t there in the first place there is no reason to believe that there will be health problems associated with genetically modified plants and animals.
