Has anyone ever climbed Mount Everest?
I have never climbed Everest, but a good friend of my family has, twice. And another very experienced climber from my hometown, who everybody knew, also climbed it several times. Unfortunately they both died in separate climbing accidents! One in a horrible storm that hit Everest, claiming the lives of a record seventeen people in one day! And my friend, who was buried in an ice cave somewhere near the summit of another mountain after he died of pulmonary oedema. Here they are in the Himalayas, in one of the last photos taken of them alive together. There was a documentary made by the National Geographic channel about the events of that day when Rob Hall and co perished in the storm, called: The dark side of Everest. I highly recommend it!
