Some babies are just meant to be small and babies and not all babies follow a standard curve. Every step of the chart is “normal” and babies in the lower percentiles aren’t necessarily any less healthy than larger babies. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers but weight by itself is really a poor indication of overall health. Weight gain can fluctuate so much so it’s not a good idea to weigh too frequently. Is your baby happy, otherwise healthy, meeting developmental milestones, gaining weight appropriately and proportionately, etc…? If the answer is yes, don’t worry so much! By all means, track her growth, but don’t let the numbers take over. Your daughter sounds very similar to mine. My daughter was 5 lbs 11 oz at birth, and she fell off the bottom of the growth chart between 4- 6 months. It was just a period where her rate of growth slowed. It picked up again and her weight climbed back up to the chart. She’s almost 18 months and still under 20 lbs. She is still wearing
