I think if I were in San Diego or Los Angeles I’d be getting a little jumpy but I expect most of the natives there are just blase. The amount of activity they’ve had there in the last fortnight or so isn’t exceptional but it is above normal. That may mean nothing, it may mean the plates are just settling slightly and letting off a bit of pressure in a lot of small to medium-sized tremors or it could be the precursor to something much bigger. If it is something bigger, one has to wonder whether it’ll be big enough and far-reaching enough to trigger anything in the Yellowstone area. I would imagine that’s about as likely as me winning the Lottery (and I haven’t bought a ticket in ages) but I do wonder whether there might be something dramatic about to happen in California. If so, I shall be very interested to see how the response compares to the response to Hurricane Katrina.
