If you are using the latest version of Open Office (2.0), then Word 2002 won’t have the file converters for it, but you can convert the Open Office documents back to an older version of Word under >file>save as, in Open Office (Word 97/2000/XP should do it). Then Word 2002 will be able to handle them. Almost all office packages are backwards compatible with almost all other office packages, but clearly can’t be compatible with newer ones.
