Has anyone been to overeaters anonymous and did it help?
What first gets my attention in your question is that you’ve recognized that there is an emotional component to your eating issues. The second is that Weight Watchers hasn’t helped. No disrespect to Weight Watchers at all now, for I’ve no doubt they have helped many people lose weight. Your lack of success there likely lies in the fact that its focus is weight loss and does not address the components of the disease of compulsive eating. OA is not a diet and calories club. It is a 12-Step program of recovery for addictive eating behavior, patterned after the Alcoholics Anonymous program. While many members freely talk at meetings right from the start, noone is required to do so. In fact, just listening can be of great value. Attending meetings regularly, becoming abstinent, and using the tools of recovery which include working the Steps with a Sponsor (a member with an acceptable amount of recovery time and who has completed the Steps), most members begin to feel able to open up and sha
