Has anyone been through USAF TACP training before and what is it like?
I was never USAF TACP but met more than my share of them when I was in the Army. TACP is as close as you can get to being in the Army without changing branches. You’re in the mud, on the ground, and in the woods alongside the other grunts as you are the sole link to that sweet, sweet air support. On the good side, USAF TACP enjoyed higher pay back then as almost 100% of Army barracks were deemed substandard by USAF regulation, so the TACPers I knew got paid an additional $150/month as compensation. They also got single-man rooms as E-1 to E-4, a perk afforded only to NCOs and above in the Army.
