Has anybody worked for Vector Marketing, selling CutCo brand knives?
Since everyone on here seems to hate Vector for no apparent reason, I’ll share my experience: I worked for Vector between my freshman and sophomore years of college (Summer 1993) and made about $2,000 in the process—roughly what any other summer job would have paid, at the time. My manager repeatedly reminded us that Vector was *not* a get-rich-quick scheme, that we’d have to *work* if we wanted to make anything at it. He was, of course, right, and I expect my success stemmed in part from this attitude. I’m not much of a “people person” and certainly not a great salesman, but I received the guaranteed base pay, my first couple of weeks, and eventually became good enough at it that I was working straight commission. As much as I enjoyed doing it, it was just another summer job, and I decided not to return. Christmas break came, and I wanted some pocket cash for when I returned to school.
