I was prescribed Mercilon, about 10 years ago, to regulate my periods. However, this was prior to being diagnosed with PCOS & at the time the only symptoms I experienced was irregular periods. Mercilon did however regulate them perfectly. On moving GPs my new doctor took me off Mercilon and prescribed Dianette instead. If I can remember correctly the reason he gave me for this change was that there was a greater risk of thrombosis using Mercilon.
