Has anybody tried methimazole cream for cats?
If you are referring to the cream that you have compounded, and then rub it on the cat’s ears, many people have had success with that method. But here is something to try. You cat may like things like Cosequin (glucosamine and chondroitin) due to his age. My one cat loved the capsules, and gobbled them right down. I hid her Tapazole inside the capsule. Tapazole is a tiny pill although on its own, a cat has no problem finding it. My one cat succumbed to hyperthyroidism and was on Tapazole for a number years. She slowly lost weight, and that was really what did her in. I would opt for the radioactive treatment if I were faced with the problem again. Over the long run, it is cost effective and better for the cat. The weight loss may have been a side effect of the Tapazole, since she was on a small dose even at the end and well stabilized.
