We live in Arkansas and my Mother also has that problem. She is also surrounded by pine trees and we have none close to our home even though we both live in the country and we live very close to a creek. I did not realize until now that the pine trees may have a connection to the reptiles. That is very interesting. Anyway, to make a long story short, she uses moth balls to keep the reptiles away. The farmers in this area also use them in the spring of the year around the water openings of their rice fields to keep the water snakes away. Some say it works others say they can’t tell the difference. Mom says it does. All I know is that it smells bad.
