Has any player of a Jacques Boquay violin experimented with different strings?
From Timothy Kidder Posted December 21, 2009 at 05:41 PM I’ve been playing on a Jacques Boquay violin for some years now. At first, I just used Dominant strings, the “default string of choice” for most violinists today, but I’ve always suspected that the violin had even more to give. Recently I’ve been trying Infeld Red strings and they seem to be OK. But I know the only way to find the best possible match of violin, string, and violinist is to experiment with a wide variety of strings. However, the cost of strings being what they are, I was wondering if any violinists out there have already done this type of search with their own Boquay. I’d be very interested to learn about their experience and their conclusions.
