This means you have a defective brake light switch ( located under the driver’s side dashboard, near where the brake pedal pivots). The frame of the brake pedal pushes on the switch to deactivate the brakelight, when the pedal is pushed downward it releases the switch contacts and activates the brakelights. To replace, buy the switch first, then remove the lower dash cover driver’s side, move driver’s seat backward, wiggle yourself under the dash and remove the connector to the switch, then break the clips of the current switch to be able to remove it easily. To install new switch, pull out/expand switch to longest length, push pedal fully down, insert switch until the clips/tabs lock, release the pedal, and re-attach cable connector. Have fun.
