Has any one had an email about unclaimed money?
These people are scam artists. I have been receiving these emails for more than four years and it’s always the same crap. It always starts out by saying that this person has a client who is wealthy and was somehow killed or died in a tragic accident along with all of their family and they need you to claim the money for them and then they will split it with you. It’s all a bunch of lies. I have never responded to them and neither should you. They use all of your personal information to get credit cards in your name and drain you of your money. Just ignore the emails or report them to the police, although it will be difficult to trace these people back. They are just a bunch of scammers looking for a sucker to reel in to their scheme. Be careful.
You know it is a scam but here how it works. You get the email and respond. They tell you that they need money to process the claim and tell you you have to send them x amount of dollars to help process it because of legal mumbo jumbo. They get the money, once and then may they ask for more. They say they will send a check for the full amount of the inheritance but they want you to pay them the taxes on the amount so they ask you to send the tax money also and tell you the check is on the way. You get the check, you try to cash it, sometimes it will bounce. Sometimes the bank can tell it is a scam check. Sometimes the bank will cash the check but then tell you after you spent the money that it is no good so whatever you spend the money on, you now owe the bank what money you used. In some other cases, they get your social security and bank account number and tell you that they will wire the money in but they need you wire money out to pay for the legal mumbo jumbo and taxes.
