Has any corrosion testing been performed to prove that if a holiday is created in the jacket of the wire that CCS will last as long if not longer that standard copper wire?
Various testing has been and is in the process for testing corrosion resistance. One test conducted by a Gas Company, which nicked the CCS and placed into a salt bath for over four months, yielded positive results for resistance. Another Gas Company buried the material on the West Coast for over one year and monitored the material closely. The positive results yielded a recent purchase from this Gas Company. Current in house testing is being monitored by South West Research in San Antonio, Texas, over a five year period, to study the effects of corrosion at various intervals of time on a multitude of samples, including; impacted (dented), cut, scraped, standard bare and coated wire.
