Has Act 250 helped or harmed Vermont, both from an economic and environmental perspective?
Act 250 has played a key role in preserving and protecting our environment and natural resources since 1970. In and of itself, Act 250 is not at odds with economic growth. But the reality today is that the difficulty of land use permitting has become a high barrier to expansion and growth in our state. The process must modernize. The goals and criteria remain in synch with Vermonters’ values and traditions.
