Has a decline in disciplining children and young people lead to a mess in society, as described below;?
The problem is that parents have become too lenient because they are afraid of being reported for abuse. I have observed that most parents ignore their children until the children start bothering them. Most parents have no idea what their child watches on TV or plays on video games. I made a point of playing what my child played to see if there was a problem with the game. Of course, my child and I also had time when we sat and talked with the TV and computer off. My parents used switches when my siblings and I were bad. I used time outs. The younger generation is indeed raising ill mannered, dangerous children. When I was young, you didn’t hear of any child killing another over a pair of shoes. Today it is commonplace. Video games are also not to blame for the problems with today’s youth. If the parents would exercise control over what their child plays, the problem would not exist. Children are also not taught right and wrong. I read a story about a child who killed another with a gu
Yes, the lack of both discipline and nurturing has led us to this. The lack of disclipine has caused our kids to grow up believing they can do whatever they want without consequence, and they wear prison time as a badge of honor! The lack of nurturing- see the cases about a 4 year old being charged with sexual harrassment for hugging a teachers aid, and the middle school girl suspended for hugging her friends in greeting. People have gotten so afraid of being accused of sexual abuse, that they no longer give the necessary physical touching that ensures that children grow up with a sense of empathy for others. Humans are social animals that require physical contact from birth in order to grow up well-adjusted. Notice how many new babies are lugged around in infant seats, instead of being carried in mom’s arms.
