Gyms will ask for proof of employment before approving discounted membership. What is proof of employment?
For active employees, proof of employment is a King County identification badge or a current pay stub. If a spouse or domestic partner joins a gym at the same time as the active employee, the employee’s proof of employment is all that will be required. If the spouse/domestic partner joins at a different time than the active employee, two pieces of identification are required: 1) Proof of employment (pay stub) and 2) Proof of same residence (driver’s license or other photo ID with address) Retirees need to contact Benefits and Retirement Operations Section (BROS) and request a letter to confim their eligibility for the Gym Discount Program. BROS may be contacted by email:kcbenefits@kingcounty.gov or phone: 206-684-1556. Some gyms have additional enrollment requirements which have been included with the discount information. Check the specific gym’s Web page.
