GREENS SUPPORT A “SINGLE-PAYER” HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. SHOULDNT WE FEAR SOCIALIZED MEDICINE?
We currently suffer an inefficient and unfair health care system, which has been kept in place, not by logic, but by the corporate interests it serves. We believe that the models of Canada and Western Europe offer a wealth of knowledge and experience that the US has no excuse ignoring. Everyone patients and care providers knows that the current system is not working; everyone, that is, except for those currently profiting insurance, pharmaceutical, and medical supply companies, hospital networks and HMOs. For real reform to occur, for-profit medicine must go, and a non-profit system established. The Greens advocate public-private partnership in the development of new technologies and medicine based on Human need, not corporate greed.
