Not sure. It seems that grapefruit is the culprit, but I don’t know the ingredients in these medications. Drug Interaction – Coumadin and acetaminophen [posted 7/21/98] Question: I heard a quick news byte last week stating that anticoagulants (such as Coumadin, which my husband takes daily) can be fatal when taken in combination with acetaminophen. We are concerned, because we have been told that acetaminophen is the only painkiller he should take. He has cardiomyopathy, and also takes Lasix, Digoxin, and Amiodarone. Answer: An interesting, but probably pointless study. The media played this into a big deal because patients/families would take note and be concerned. The study was published in JAMA and only included patients who presented with elevated INR values. There was an association between taking tylenol, but I suspect the study shows an underlying liver problem in patients – not a problem with tylenol. I have no clinical suspicions of a problem and I have about 200 patients on c
