grade pre-AP-English (A-) score on the WASL was short by a couple of pointsthen what?
Consider these possibilities: • Your student has the skills and knowledge but just cant demonstrate them on the WASL. The alternative might be the right option. • Your student doesnt have the skills and knowledge yet, but with extra academic help and retakes should be fine. • Your student didnt take the test seriously or had an off day and therefore didnt perform as well as s/he does every day in school. • Your student may have/had some easy grading teachers or teachers who didnt teach the standards. Requiring ALL students to demonstrate their mastery of basic skills on the WASL ensures that everyone who passes the test can read, write and do mathand, starting with the class of 2010understand science. Since each 10th grade student throughout the state takes the same test, meeting standard on this test ensures all students have a foundation of essential skills.
