Good first car for a teenager?
Over 100,000 if/when well maintained could be better than 50.000 but missed many oil changes. So you look at the history, you look at the general state of the car and try to guess if the owner was a bad owner. The best way is to search on Ebay till you find something good. This isn’t easy unless you know what you are doing, but a guideline would be 1 owner only. Then get an old car so it’s going to be cheap as nobody wants it. You’ll want it because you’ll save a TON of money in insurance too. A Toyota Corolla is cheap on gas, I have seen 1991 models with 70.000 miles for under $500! Make sure it starts and it stops, it doesn’t smoke and that’s it. But you can pay a mechanic to come with you, you do the initial finding then bring him along. When you get a cheapo car that you can practice with you can then get insurance liability only. With this insurance If you damage it they won’t pay to fix it but since it’s a cheap car it won’t matter and that’s the cheapest insurance policy you can
