Golden Globes: Is “Avatar” Now the Oscar Favorite?
Everyone on Pandora is giddy about their Golden Globe win. The Golden Globes are an awards show that doesn’t usually have a lot of meaning. First off, the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hands out the awards has such suspect credentials that it’s hard for everyone to keep a straight face when talking about them. The Globes’ use as a predictor for the Oscars is thrown off by its division of awards into comedy/musical and drama categories. Now of course, it’s not like Oscar usually picks a comedy or musical anyway, but by throwing one comedy into a best picture slot, or giving a few actors or actresses their due along with the drama queens/kings can create a little chaos just by splitting votes up.
