And since you told us here you are familiar or know what a jeepney is all about, I am still surprise why you still find time to ask the question on how to ride a jeepney then? Is there a difference do you think of a jeepney in Davao and a jeepney in Manila? Nothing is new or different. They are both the same in structure and model. The only difference perhaps is the remodelling of the chassis or the body of the jeepney but the main picture of a jeepney is still there. Some jeepneys are much bigger and an air-condition is place inside the jeepney to make passengers more comfortable which is not usual for an ordinary jeepney. Who says in Manila you cannot stop wherever or whenever you want. You can. They can even stop in the middle of the road to let you off. This is Manila, anything goes. You stick your hand out, not the middle finger, and the jeepney driver will decide if he will pick you up or not just like hitching a ride. Being hailed “kings of the road”, they can stop anywhere actually, even on the middle of the road -if you are quick, you just have to say “Ma-ma, para po” or “Sa tabi nalang po”, and then you get down the jeepney. The fare is the same regardless of race, children under 9 usually are not charged, if they are sitting on mommy’s lap. Senior citizens and students get discounts.
