Question: Which is a better option, going to Kunming direct from Singapore or fly to Chiangmai and make my way there from Chiangmai. Tis way I kill 2 birds with one stone. As it is the June hols, the air tickets in Singapore is almost full and prices are exorbitant. Advice?? Answer: Suggest that you take a direct flight to Kunming with Silkair, the prices are about the same as Thai Airways via Bangkok. That way you will have enough time to explore Yunnan province, which has a lot of great places to visit! Don’t forget that you’ll need time to travel around there as well, especially if you want to go up to Dali and Lijiang. If you have the time, you can do a mountain trekking there in the Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is stunningly beautiful, but you’ll need the time for it. But if you have like a month holiday, then of course you could fly via Chiangmai, spend a week there and a few weeks in Yunnan after that.
